MADISON – The Democratic Party of Wisconsin proudly announces that DNC Vice-Chair, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, will keynote the 12th Annual Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute on Tues., Oct. 12, 2010, at the Orpheum Theatre.

The tribute honors women who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Democratic causes. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and other top elected women leaders will join Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

“Rep. Wasserman Schultz embodies many of the traits that made Eleanor Roosevelt great so it is an honor that she address our annual tribute to the “First Lady of the World,”” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said.

This year’s Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute will be held on Tues., Oct. 12, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre, 216 State St., Madison.

Held every year since 1999, the Eleanor Roosevelt Tribute honors women in Wisconsin who have displayed commitment to Democratic causes and engagement in social activism. The event also pays tribute to the legacy of former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who dedicated herself to enhancing the role of women in politics and government and improving the lot of the underprivileged.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 20th Congressional District and serves on the House Committee on Appropriations, which, in conjunction with its Senate counterpart, makes funding decisions on every discretionary program in the federal budget. A fighter for American families, Rep. Wasserman Schultz has worked hard to protect children. She is Vice-Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and also serves as a Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
