Do Dan Mielke and Sean Duffy Stand With Corporations and Foreign Governments?

Do They Support Republican Stand Against Reform?

MADISON – As Washington Republicans today impede the passage of critical campaign finance reform, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin called on Republican 7th Congressional District candidates Dan Mielke and former reality tee-vee star Sean Duffy to state whether they stand with special interests and foreign governments or with Wisconsin voters.

“Do Dan Mielke and Sean Duffy believe that corporations should be able to pervert Wisconsin elections with their money? Do they believe that the mullahs in Iran should have a say in how we conduct our elections?” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate asked Tuesday.

The DISCLOSE Act is supported by 7th CD Democratic candidate Julie Lassa. It passed the U.S. House of Representatives last month AND would address the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Citizens United vs. The Federal Election Committee that gives corporations the same rights as voters and opens our elections to interference by foreign governments. The DISCLOSE Act would expand transparency and accountability in campaign spending by holding corporations to the same standards as candidates, requiring disclaimers in campaign ads, and preventing government contractors from manipulating taxpayer funds and spending in elections.
