Statement of Mike Tate Regarding Ultimate Insider’s Campaign Tour
MADISON – Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate about Scott Walker’s phony brown bag tour:
“Scott Walker spent half a million dollars trying to create the impression he stands on the side of working families who pack their lunch in a brown bag. Instead, he’s traveling around the state as the ultimate insider, now that he secured the official endorsement of the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s established elite this weekend.
“As for Scott Walker, he sure talks a good game, but when it comes to actually holding the line on spending he fails to walk the walk. His budget proposals as county executive have increased spending by 35% between 2003 and today. While in the state Legislature, Walker voted for five straight budgets that increased state spending from $26.6 billion to nearly $49 billion — an increase of more than 84%. This ‘say one thing, do the exact opposite’ doublespeak of slick politicians like Scott Walker is exactly what people in Wisconsin will reject in November.”
