Congrats, Scott, Only $390 Million to Go!
Fundraising Fibs Hide Massive Tax and Borrowing Increases
MADISON – Eager to hide the massive and unfunded spending increases and tax hikes on his watch, Scott Walker now is circulating a fundraising e-mail that is about as accurate as Walker’s scandal-plagued administration has been sound.
In the fundraising e-mail circulated Monday where he claims credit for a long-awaited budget surplus unrelated to any of his policies, Walker uses terms of art to hide the $38 million in tax increases that he signed into law, and fails to mention the $400 million in pension obligations with which he has saddled future generations.
“Congrats, Scott, only $390 million to go until our great-great-grandchildren are done paying for your mistakes,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Tuesday. “If Scott Walker wants to claim credit for things he didn’t do, he should be ready to assume blame for the things that he did, including passing the buck to future generations and signing into law job-killing taxes.”
