DPW Announces 2009 State Convention Theme

MADISON – The Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) today announced the theme of this year’s State Convention: ‘The Difference is Leadership’. With Democrats in full control of government for the first time in more than two decades, the DPW will highlight the theme as Party members gather in Green Bay June 12-13 for State Convention.

This year also marks the 60th year of the modern Democratic Party in Wisconsin.

“Democrats are leading our state and nation forward, making the tough decisions every day to create jobs, stimulate the economy and balance the budget,” said Joe Wineke, Chair of the DPW. “From the State House to the White House, Democrats are taking the lead and working hard to clean up the mess we inherited from George W. Bush and the Republicans.”

During State Convention, delegates, alternates and guests from across the state will gather to hear from a variety of elected officials, Party leaders, and keynote speakers. This year, delegates and alternates will also elect Party Officers, including DPW Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
