Ignorance Turns to Arrogance as RPW Attacks

MADISON – RepublicanParty of Wisconsin (RPW) Executive Director Mark Jefferson yesterday launched an arrogant and childish attack against Joint Finance Committee co-chairs Sen. Mark Miller and Rep. Mark Pocan on behalf of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, the state’s largest organization of business lobbyists.

“Why are Mark Jefferson and the Republicans launching petty attacks on behalf of WMC,” asked Joe Wineke, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “Is WMC too cowardly to defend themselves, or are they simply broke after eight years of supporting the Bush economic policies that have hurt main street and bankrupted many of their own business members?”

The RPW yesterday released a statement criticizing Sen. Miller for standing up against the WMC business lobbyists and fighting for main street values. Jefferson also criticized Rep. Pocan, who last month was named one of the “Best Legislators” by Milwaukee Magazine.

While the WMC is on the heels of pouring millions into state political races and purchasing the Attorney General’s Office and multiple Wisconsin Supreme Court seats for Republicans — Mark Jefferson is drawing laughs for blaming WEAC and Democratic leaders for destroying the state’s reputation for clean government.

“Mark Jefferson should open his eyes and look who’s bankrolling the Republicans in this state. Can anyone remember when the Republican Party of Wisconsin wasn’t WMC’s little lapdog?” Wineke asked.
