Statement of DPW Chair Joe Wineke on Barack Obama

Oct 06, 2008

MADISON – Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Joe Wineke today issued the following statement on Barack Obama’s second straight debate victory and John McCain’s inability to articulate a new direction for the country beyond the failed, recycled policies of George Bush.

“Tonight Barack Obama won a huge victory by continuing to prove that he is in touch with the challenges Americans are facing in this difficult economy. On the issues that matter to middle class Americans from the econonmy, to health care, to energy, to foreign policy, Obama continued to display steady leadership and articulate innovative policies.

“McCain was erratically all over the map and seemed uncomfortable and unsteady even in his favorite town hall format. McCain is running out of time for a game-changer, and tonight he didn’t get it. Before the debate the McCain campaign said, ‘if we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.’ He lost tonight.”
