ICYMI: Ron Johnson: “What elected official would ever propose cutting or ending Social Security?” Answer: Ron Johnson
MADISON, Wis. – Ron Johnson took to Fox News to once again gripe that Wisconsinites are calling him out for threatening cuts to Social Security, claiming: “what elected official would ever want to cut Social Security?” The answer: he does.
- In August, Johnson advocated that Social Security and Medicare should be subject to cuts and that the former should have been put into the stock market.
- “…U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson on Tuesday called for turning every government program into discretionary spending programs, meaning Congress would have to allocate funding for the programs each year.”
- Johnson has called Social Security a “Ponzi Scheme,” even going so far as to vote to raise the retirement age, and supported legislation that would lead to cuts in funding programs like Social Security.
- Johnson has continuously voted for legislation that would undercut Medicare. If Johnson had gotten his way, Medicare would be substantially weakened and Seniors would face higher out of pocket costs.
