Democrat Tom Breu Focused on 1st Congressional District
Coming off a round of listening sessions earlier this month, Democrat Tom Breu is pledging to continue traveling the 1st Congressional District to listen to the voters as Rep. Paul Ryan shifts his focus to the dysfunction in Washington, D.C. Martha Laning, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, praised Breu’s commitment to his community and his efforts to reach out to as many voters as possible.
“I applaud Tom Breu’s efforts to reach as many voters as possible before election day. He has been traveling the district listening to what voters want in contrast to Rep. Ryan who is distracted by getting a new job for himself. Tom will be focused on getting jobs and opportunities for the 1st Congressional District,” said Laning.
Born and raised in Marshfield, Breu is a 5th generation Wisconsinite who has lived in Janesville for the last 20 years. He has been an officer of the Rock County Democratic Party for the last five.
“Paul Ryan used to be a moderate voice in Congress that reflected his district. But the more time he spent in Washington, D.C. the more extreme his policies became. Tom has heard this concern as he travels the district because he has been working hard to meet voters and listen to them,” said Laning.
Breu and his wife Sylvia have 7 children. For the last 20 years he has worked as a mechanical engineer specializing in plumbing design. Breu left his job to dedicate himself to campaigning full-time.
”Should there be a primary, we are confident our open primary process will yield the strongest possible candidate next year,” said Laning.
