President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda Provides Critical Relief for Wisconsin Veterans
“In Wisconsin, which is home to 364,000 people who have served patriotically in the military, President Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) has put much-needed dollars in the pockets of veterans.”
MADISON — Across Wisconsin, President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda continues to provide essential relief to hundreds of thousands of military service members, veterans, and their families as the state recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Wisconsin, which is home to 364,000 people who have served patriotically in the military, President Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) has put much-needed dollars in the pockets of veterans and helped support the Department of Veteran Affairs’ response to the pandemic, which hit military families particularly hard. From millions in funding for state-run veterans homes to job training to help veterans who are unemployed as a result of the pandemic, the ARP has already helped thousands of military families—despite every single Republican in Wisconsin voting against the plan.
Across the country, the ARP has allocated money to:
- Investments in health care, ensuring access to care for the 9.2 million enrolled veterans across the country who have been impacted by the pandemic.
- Economic relief to provide veterans with debt relief related to VA health care.
- Grants and payments to veterans living in housing facilities.
- Funding for a Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program that provides up to 12 months of training and employment assistance for unemployed veterans.
- Initiatives to reduce the VA backlog of compensation and pension claims.
Building on the success of the American Rescue Plan, President Biden has also proposed the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan, transformational plans that would make unprecedented investments in our nation’s veterans. These two proposals would ensure that military families have access to quality health care, making child care affordable, and creating millions of good jobs for veterans and their spouses.
“President Biden continues to demonstrate how important it is to have compassionate leadership in the White House—especially when it comes to supporting those who have served our country. The American Rescue Plan was the first step in leading us out of this pandemic and building Wisconsin back better—and President Biden, in partnership with Democrats like Senator Baldwin and Governor Evers, is just getting started,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “The American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan will build on that success by continuing to support Wisconsin’s veterans in every corner of the state, uplifting veteran-owned businesses, and delivering critical funding that will help military families thrive.”
