As Donald Trump Cozies Up To Vladimir Putin, Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Sean Duffy Continue To Support His Campaign

Sep 08, 2016

During last night’s Commander-in-Chief forum, Donald Trump once again heaped praised on Russian President Vladimir Putin, all while insulting the brave women and men in our military. Prior to pursuing a political career, Putin served as a KGB agent and is suspected of playing a role in the deaths of his political rivals as well as journalists who dare publish unfavorable pieces about the Russian President.
Trump was put to the test last night and he showed the voters once again just how unfit and unqualified he is for the highest office in the land.

Trump’s praise for the Russian leader is unprecedented from a candidate running for President of the United States, however, Trump still hasn’t crossed the line for Speaker Paul Ryan or Rep. Sean Duffy who continue to support Donald Trump’s campaign.

In separate interviews, both Speaker Ryan and Rep. Duffy split with Trump and his comments praising the Russian leader. But even after watching Trump double-down on his admiration for Putin last night, both Ryan and Duffy still can’t bring themselves to criticize Trump or denounce his entire campaign.

“Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Sean Duffy have zero courage to stand up to their party’s nominee, as evidenced by their continued support for Donald Trump as he insulted Gold Star parents, demeaned our military, claimed to know more about ISIS than our top generals, and lied about his donation history in support of veterans’ charities.” Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Brandon Weathersby said on Thursday. “Donald Trump proves he shouldn’t be anywhere near the White House every time he speaks and last night was no exception. Ryan and Duffy should do what’s best for Wisconsinites and denounce Trump’s campaign once and for all.”
