2024 DNC Delegate HQ

Hello delegates! We’re very excited to welcome you to Chicago for the 2024 DNC Democratic Convention. The convention will run Monday Aug 19th through Thursday Aug 22nd. Below you will find more information on what to expect, locations of events, and a general schedule of each day. As always, WisDems is here to help so please reach out any time you have questions!

 


General info:

  • The Wisconsin delegation will be staying at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk (301 E North Water St, Chicago, IL 60611)
  • The DNC Caucus and Committees will be meeting each day at McCormick Place Convention Center (2301 S Martin Luther King Dr, Chicago, IL 60616)
  • The evening program will be taking place at the United Center (1901 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60612)
    • Only credentialed individuals will be able to enter the United Center security perimeter
    • The easiest way to the United Center is to arrive on one of the DNC Shuttles
    • Pedestrians may enter the security perimeter on the east side of the United Center

Shuttle Information

  • Delegation members will have access to a free shuttle system that will transport them between the hotels, McCormick Place, and United Center
    • Only credentialed individuals will be able to ride on the shuttles; individuals without a credential must find alternative transportation to these sites
  • Shuttles will run between 8AM-4PM every 15 min from hotels to the convention sites
    • The last shuttle to the United Center will leave around 6PM
    • Shuttles will not depart from the United Center while programming is going on
    •  Shuttles running to hotels will be labeled with the hotel(s) they are traveling to
  • Travel time between each location will be approximately 15-20 mins, but is dependent on traffic so we recommend planning on extra time as needed to arrive to destinations on time
  • Further shuttle information will be added as it’s shared

Hotel Information

The Wisconsin Delegation will be staying at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk (301 E North Water St, Chicago, IL)

  • Check-in: 4PM
  • Check-out: 12PM

Parking is available to guests staying at the hotel for $68/night (with in/out privileges)

Delegation breakfasts will be in the Sheraton IV Ballroom (4th floor of the hotel)

For individuals looking for alternative parking, we suggest checking out Spot Hero, a service that offers various parking options throughout the city. Note: this is a private company not officially affiliated with WisDems or the DNC, use at your own discretion.

Monday August 19th

8:00AM-10:00AM: Wisconsin Delegation Breakfast

  • Delegates and their guest are invited to come together for a breakfast each morning at the hotel! Our delegation will be meeting in the Sheraton IV Ballroom (4th floor of the hotel).
  • Breakfast is optional, but delegates must pick up their own credential each day of convention in order to avoid forfeiting their credential for that day. If you do not pick up your credential by 10AM, you will forfeit it for that day.
  • In addition to daily announcements, updates, raffles, and scheduling notes, we will hear from a number of exciting national and in-state speakers!

9:30AM-3:30PM: Caucus and Committee Meetings

4:00PM: United Center doors open

5:00PM-7:00PM: estimated pre-program at United Center

  • Only credentialed individuals are allowed in the United Center security perimeter

7:00PM-9:30PM: estimated evening program at United Center

10:00PM: Midwest x Southwest Concert event

  • Delegates can take the shuttle back to hotels to then make their way to House of Blues:
    • Sheraton (WI Delegation hotel): 15 min walk to House of Blues
    • Royal Sonesta Chicago: 7 min walk to House of Blues
  • Alternatively, members may use Lyft/Uber or a taxi to get to HOB

Tuesday August 20th

FAQ

What should I wear?

  • Attendees are encouraged to dress business casual or similar to, but be sure to wear comfy shoes as you will be standing and walking quite a bit!

How are you communicating with the delegation?

  • We will be utilizing a texting hotline to communicate with delegates. You will receive broadcast messages from us and be able to respond directly back to a staffer. If you are not subscribed or accidentally unsubscribe, please email dncdelegates@wisdems.org to get added!

Who is able to attend breakfast?

  • Delegates and one additional guest are welcome to join us each morning at our delegation breakfast. If you have not RSVP’d for your guest yet, please let us know right away!

Are guests (without credentials) allowed into any of the convention sites?

  • Folks without credentials are able to attend the events at McCormick Place, the caucus meetings throughout the day. 
  • Folks without credentials cannot attend the United Center programming and will not be allowed in the security perimeter.
    • Note: folks without credentials cannot use the shuttle service at any time

What food options are there?

  • Breakfast each morning is provided to the delegation and one guest
  • Lunch and dinner is on your own
    • McCormick Place will have food vendors on-site throughout the day
    • United Center will have stadium-food style concessions available throughout the evening program
